Wow, I'm very impressed with the Zooburst site! This is a digital storytelling tool that lets you or your students create their own online 3-D pop-up books. Some of the features include:
  • A community website that lets you browse for books that have been created by other members of the ZooBurst community
  • A 3D book-builder that includes over 10,000 searchable items to add to your books
  • An online book viewer that lets you view your books on the ZooBurst website or embed them into your own site or blog
  • An 'Augmented Reality' mode that lets you experience a book from within the palm of your hand (requires an active webcam)
  • Photo 'postcards' that let you share pictures of yourself while holding your virtual books in AR mode
This site would be a really great tool for any teacher that wants to get their students writing more. It allows the user to develop their stories into fully developed online books.

My StoryMaker lets you control objects and characters and even creates sentences for you! Once you are done with your story, you can print it out. You cannot go back and edit a story once you have ended it but, if you click "yes" when asked to share it with others, you can print it out again by entering the magic number it gives you in the box on the right.

This site would be really good for the younger elementary grades, especially as a fun, creative outlet. You can save your stories as .pdf files and save them to your computer. Then you can print as many as you would like. They only save your stories for a month so you should remember to save to your computer of you would like to keep them indefinitely.

Tikatok is a wonderful resource for children to design and create their own literature. The student’s have the opportunity to go to the website and create their own personal book creating all of the items a book requires on their own. First the students begin by actually writing their story. There are a variety of options to help the students brainstorm and get started. Once the students choose the route they would like to take (depending on their level of difficulty) they will have the option to design a cover page. On the cover page they can include their own title, author’s name, and a picture. The students also have the option to edit the inside of the front and back cover as well. Then once the front and back covers are created the students can move on to the title page, and the story pages. Each page has a rough template that can be used, otherwise the students have the option to edit everything exactly as they’d like imputing their own pictures and text. This resource is a wonderful tool to get children excited about writing and sharing their own stories because everything about the book can be created by the individual student.

Class Tools is an excellent resource for examining lengthy text with students. A teacher can input text on to pages and then by clicking on the page it will flip to the next one. This tool can be embedded right into a webpage and easily viewed. This tool is basically a virtual book, allowing a teacher to paste whatever text she would like into the book making discussion and analyzing even simpler.
